Outdoor Path Lights "Malibu" Style
thingiverse
My gardener consistently trims the "Malibu" lamps situated along my driveway, prompting me to create new replacements that utilize LED's instead of the original 12v incandescent lights from HomeDepot. I fabricated these units to take advantage of the "superbright" white 5mm sized raw LED lamps purchased in bulk on eBay for a relatively affordable $13 from a Chinese supplier. The underground wiring delivers approximately 8-10v (dependent on distance from the transformer, considering there is voltage drop over several feet) power to each lamp. Each unit features a series connection of 4 or 5 LED's, and it includes a two diode, two capacitor full wave voltage doubler for powering, coupled with a 7805 or LM117 regulator in current limiter mode positioned in series with the DC power supply feeding the LED's.
