This is a project to measure background radiation and share it with the world via the radmon.org free web site. See: https://radmon.org/index.php It uses a common Geiger counter PCB kit, an Arduino Leonardo and a DFRobot ethernet hat with power over ethernet (PoE). You should be able to use an Arduino UNO if you don't need PoE but you'll need to change some of the pin assignments. The DFRobot PoE hat did not seem to work with the UNO so I used a Leonardo. I am sharing the pole mount assembly, the chassis to mount everything inside a waterproof ABS case and the Arduino code. Print the pole mount in PET-G as this needs to survive outside in direct sunlight. The internal chassis should also be printed in PET-G in case it gets hot from sunlight inside the case. PLA is probably OK but the chassis might warp in very hot weather. If you use PLA for the pole mount then spray paint it white to protect it from the sun. The Arduino and PoE hat are secured with an M3 self tapping screw and an M2 self tapping screw. The Geiger counter board is secured with 4 * M3 self tapping screws. If you use the pole mount, I recommend sealing it against the main case with silicone sealant to stop water getting in behind the mount and into the case. Trapped water might also cause the bolt to rust so I sealed the head of the bolt in the recess as well. The Arduino code can be found on my github here: https://github.com/rjelbert/geiger_counter The sketch uploads CPM (Counts Per Minute) to the radmon.org web site every 1 minute. You need to update line 142 with your own username and password for the radmon.org service.
