OUTDATED [C-3PO] Costume from Don Post statue scans
thingiverse
Hey guys ! This is the full C-3PO costume (without head and greeblies) from a Don Post statue. My files are large, so I'm sorry for that. To work with them, I needed maximum polygons. Thanks to Xeno for scanning that! I worked hard to modify all those models, so please don't make money with this stuff. Xeno is okay with sharing my work because I'm not the scans owner, and I respect Xeno's work. I modified all the scans into a full wearable costume. Be careful - you'll need some post production! Especially on the knee rings, the thighs, and the back torso. I'm not a 3D modeler, but I tried my best to modify these scans. If someone wants to modify my work and create a better version, don't hesitate! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. Parts list: ARMS. TORSO. LEFT LEG. RIGHT LEG. PANTS. LEFT FOOT (I don't have the right foot... Sorry!) For some parts (shoulder rings and forearms), you can use the same for both sides. About the right thigh, you'll need some post production with the plate. On the scans, the plate isn't attached to the thigh. You have 2 versions - one with the plate (which requires some post production but less) and one without the plate. You might have some scars on the back torso... Sorry about that! I don't have the skills to remove them. I recommend using a big printer to print these parts. I used a Creality CR-10 to print all the costume. It took me 2-3 months to print everything. To "glue" the different parts (for example, the different torso pieces), I used PLA with my iron soldering and melted the two parts inside the costume. Outside, I used my iron soldering to melt the two parts without PLA, and then I hid the line with my iron soldering. Be careful, and don't push too hard! To get the best fit with the thigh and knee, I recommend using a heat gun (SLOWLY!) and adjusting the thigh on the knee. To get a real beautiful chrome finish, you have some options available. Here are the steps I'll use to do mine: Primer filler + sand (a lot of sanding - sanding is life). Black or White paint (glossy or not) 2K (paint with polyurethane resin). Hydrochrome (you can find videos on YouTube). Varnish + gold tint SEM California gold 03126. I recommend adding some fiberglass inside.
