The motors that I work with for sizes up to 25hp are mercury engines. They feature a plastic nut secured at 100 inch-pounds torque. These motors are convenient to transport as they can be brought on board along with an extra propeller and prop nut. In case of any issues, you can easily swap out the parts in the water.
