Out of Filament Sensor Mechanical
thingiverse
This thing was made with Tinkercad online at https://www.tinkercad.com/things/jXhnkHtti3T Out of filament, a mechanical switch (end stop) is used. It's small and compact with PTFE tube installation. You'll need to bend two small ends on the endstop as shown in the picture. First, do a trial fit on your box and make sure the end stop clicks when inserting or removing the filament. If done correctly, you can feed filament from either end. Just decide if you want wires going up or down.
