The solar system model was crafted by my daughter for school, utilizing the Makerbot for accuracy. The inner and outer planets are scaled proportionately. For the plants and sun, they were printed to scale using TOM as reference. To join both halves of the plants and sun, glue or solvent welding is recommended. My daughter used ABS dissolved in acetone to create plant textures. The planets are held by aluminum rods; inserting them was done by heating the rods and sticking them into the planet while still hot. Planets were held together with aluminum rods, which were heated and inserted while hot.
