Our solar system for the blind
thingiverse
In this solar system display, each planet is mounted on a 3mm thick board and accurately sized relative to the sun (represented by a 1m diameter beach ball). Planet names are printed in Braille above each planet, while their order from the sun is indicated below. The planets' distances from the sun are as follows: Mercury at 41.6m, Venus at 77.8m, Earth at 107.5m, Mars at 163.9m, Jupiter at 559.6m, Saturn at 1026m, Uranus at 2064m, and Neptune at 3233m. However, the Braille may be fragile on initial prints, so adjustments can be made in the write.scad file to change letter height (h) and thickness (t), as well as modifying the translate z-value within the planets scad-file for proper Braille contact with the board. The openscad files are included in a downloadable zip-file.
