Our Dream House in Hong Kong.. a place that every hongkonger spend a lifetime to reach

Hong Kong is a place teeming with housing units and residential buildings, setting it apart from other locations where the most prominent structure is often a notable landmark. For many Hongkongers, a simple unit to call home is always their ultimate goal and driving force throughout their lives. Every resident of Hong Kong desires to own a housing unit, with people working tirelessly to purchase one that costs 15 times their annual household income. This explains why Hong Kong ranks number one globally for the most unaffordable housing, according to a survey conducted by US-based consultancy Demographia, which assessed 360 cities. The harsh realities of life in Hong Kong lead its residents to focus solely on the stock market as a means of earning extra income. The strain of living in such conditions prevents them from being able to breathe, think creatively, or explore new ideas and research opportunities. People become consumed by their schedules, lose patience, and develop an impatient mindset. This series of 3D models showcases residential buildings, offering a visual representation of how cramped Hong Kong is. It serves as a warning to you and your government, reminding you not to let your living space become like Hong Kong's. This message is meant to be both informative and cautionary for the world at large. I hope you find this series meaningful and thought-provoking. As the creator of these models, I aimed to convey my feelings about Hong Kong through satire and social commentary. For reference, there are over 1,000 different types of residential blocks in Hong Kong, each housing hundreds of families. You can only imagine what it's like to live amidst such density if you haven't personally experienced it or seen the models for yourself. This project marks my first time using OpenSCAD to create a customizable model. I learned how to use this software by watching YouTube tutorials and consulting the cheat sheet provided with OpenSCAD. While there is still much to be desired in terms of learning resources, the results are invaluable and have taken 3D modeling techniques to new heights. With OpenSCAD, designers can generate complex elements once they have been well-established, allowing for a more streamlined design process. I highly recommend incorporating this software into your workflow by building complicated elements in 3D software like 3dsmax and then using OpenSCAD to create regular patterns.
