ʻOumuamua is a pioneering interstellar object that blazed through our Solar System, leaving a trail of curiosity in its wake. This enigmatic visitor appears to have originated from the general vicinity of Vega, situated in the constellation Lyra, and entered our Solar System from a northerly direction above the ecliptic plane. As the Sun's gravity took hold, ʻOumuamua accelerated rapidly, reaching a maximum speed of 87.71 km/s (315,800 km/h) on September 6th as it crossed south of the ecliptic. It then made an abrupt upward turn at its closest approach to the Sun on September 9th, when it was just 0.255 AU (38,100,000 km; 23,700,000 mi) from the solar center, approximately 17% closer than Mercury's closest approach to the Sun. Today, this object is hurtling away from the Sun towards Pegasus at an angle of 66° from its initial trajectory.
