Oui Jar Lid

Oui Jar Lid

This project started when I needed a way to reuse Oui Yogurt jars for storing small parts. Since I couldn't find what I was looking for online, I decided to create my own solution. The custom lid I designed seals extremely well and has proven to be water-tight in every case so far, but I'm still unsure about its air-tightness. You can purchase lids from Yoplait at around $1 each, but I figured it was worth printing my own for just $0.25 per piece. My design features an internal ring that acts as a primary seal around the inside lip and the outside lip snaps over the rim to secure the lid in place. After printing, I use a green Scotch Brite pad to remove any stray filament pieces from the inside lip, which may or may not improve sealing performance but can't hurt and might be unnecessary. I'm using slow print settings for TPE flexible filaments with my Anet A8 Clone Printer paired with OctoPrint and IdeaMaker Slicer. My settings include a 0.15mm layer height, three perimeter layers outside last, four top and bottom layers, and a 25% cubic infill. The outer shell speed is set at 15mm/s, inner shell speed at 20mm/s, first/bottom/top layer at 15mm/s, and infill speed at 20mm/s. I'm using a 0.40mm hotend at 245c and a 55c heatbed on a Garolight sheet held in place with hairspray. The cooling fan runs at 25% from layer three onwards, with the first two layers having no fan. I hope this information helps someone out there like it has helped me. If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out and enjoy making your own custom lids!
