The original enclosure of the DC-DC converter is shielded by shrink tubing for insulation purposes. I prefer not having electronic components bundled together in a jumble of cables, so I apply hot glue to secure the DC-DC converter firmly inside its housing. Check out my other projects where I successfully combined this housing with a FLARM mounting setup.
