The Eurasian Scops Owl: A Majestic Species Linnaeus first identified the Otus scops in 1758. This owl species is also known as the European Tawny Owl or the Eurasian Scops Owl. A specimen of this bird, cataloged MZB 97-0556, showcases its impressive features. The sternum, or breastbone, of an adult owl measures 23.8 millimeters in depth and 19.2 millimeters in width. This particular owl was found in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, a municipality in the Barcelonès district of Barcelona, Spain on April 9th, 1997.
