v1.0 of the OTTOsonics speaker - a speaker developed especially for ambisonics or simliar immersive multichannel audio formats. Chassis volume and dimensions designed for a Faital 4FE32 4" speaker. Filtering is necessary (good starting point is -7dB at 1800Hz and -2dB at 11kHz), withing a multichannel system driven by a computer this can easily be done in reaper using IEM plugins for EQing and decoding. A Subwoofer is necessary, any studio subwoofer will do, crossover at 110Hz. Amping for the OTTOsonics speakers is custom built around tda7294 ICs, with a lowcut at 110Hz for protection of the speakers (can also be set in reaper when using other amps). 2 or more speakers can also be combined to a line source when higher sound pressure oder a different distribution of high frequencies is needed. Additional material required: 4 square nuts (4mm fine thread, 20x7x3mm), 3 4x12mm screws with fine thread for the hangers 8 3x20mm screws with pan head for wood for the lid 2 speakon sockets and speaker cables some dampening material nylon thread for hanging hot glue for fixing the struts to the chassis all struts can be printed at once (2x strut long and 4x strut short) www.ottosonics.com will be online soon with further information. all photos by Christoph Huemer
