Otterbox Defender Belt Clip Adapter for 35mm MTB Tube
thingiverse
I've wanted to be able to secure my phone to my Cannondale F9 since I first bought it and couldn't find a way to do so without using a large, cumbersome mount or having to purchase a whole new case with its own specialized mounts. The ones that didn't come with their own mounting systems just stuck together with double-sided tape. So I finally had the time to design one that met my needs. I use the TrackMyRide+ App quite often so this makes it easier for me to see calls and handle my phone without having to pull it out of my pocket while riding or watch a movie on the go! The version shown is my first version, which has worked great and kept my phone safe for over 60 miles of riding. I've uploaded V2, which reduces the amount of material used to print it and should still give a good solid grip. Instructions 1) Print the adapter using a 2mm wall with an 80% infill. I included a small pilot hole in the center of the adapter to force Cura to create a 4mm area of material around the center, making it easier for those who use less infill (20%) to attach a screw. The center pounchout may need some cleaning with a Dremel and any support material removed to help the Otterbox clip fit snugly in the hole. 2) Carefully pry away the original plastic gator clip from the Otterbox Belt clip, exposing the circular attachment point. Use a small pair of needle nose pliers. 3) Align the adapter on your belt clip (ensuring a flush fit), in the orientation you'd like to mount your phone to your bike and use a small drill bit to create a pilot hole about 4-5mm with your drill. 4) Find a way to countersink your hole so that your screw can sit behind the phone (use a countersink or large drill tip). 5) Install your screw and test fit it on your bike. 6) If all goes well, back out the screw just enough to remove the adapter, then apply generous amounts of ABS juice or adhesive to both mating surfaces. Place the pieces together, press them firmly as you install the screw again by hand. Use a small brush to add a light coat of ABS juice along the seam of the adapter plate and belt clip to help make it stronger. 7) Let the adhesive dry for 24 hours. Once hard, run your zip ties through the two holes and secure them tightly on your bike. Make sure to pull the zip ties snugly in opposite directions to keep the base from wanting to lean towards one side.
