Megalodon tooth, an ancient relic from a long-lost giant shark, lies in the Yorktown Formation at Lee Creek Mine in North Carolina. This remarkable fossil is carefully preserved within the collections of the McKinney Geology Teaching Museum, housed under the Department of Geological & Environmental Sciences at Appalachian State University. A 3D model of this incredible specimen was generated by Mathias Eads using precise scans taken directly from the actual fossil itself.
