When building my enclosure for my CR10S, I opted to place the filament outside the box. An alternative option could be using another type of holder that would work equally well, but I wanted to position the extruder motor externally, which is why this particular design stands out - it allows me to fit the motor between the holder and the trough wall. The entire structure is remarkably stable, thanks to the arm connecting each side. A total of 4 ball bearings are required for optimal performance.
