OSX Kinect Application

OSX Kinect Application

thingiverse

This Cocoa Kinect application, compatible with Mac OSX 10.6, allows users to visualize data from a connected Kinect Sensor in real time by displaying its Mesh on a window. The application is standalone and does not require additional files or installation. The developer has also added the functionality to export Depth data as PLY point cloud files. For 3D printing, the Save STLB button generates high-quality mesh for STL Binary format; however, it must be opened in MeshLab and resaved to optimize readability. An update on May 7th added options to export ASCII STL or Binary STL files with adjustable depth limit and detail level. Users are encouraged to provide feedback on further improvements. Note that the Binary STL export may cause crashes in some applications, which can be resolved by loading into MeshLab, unifying duplicate vertices, and resaving the STL file. The source code is available for download.
