The Archaeopteryx Haarlem specimen has been reclassified as the holotype of Ostromia crassipes. It is the only known anchiornithid discovered outside China. Unfortunately, the skeleton is highly fragmentary, but the bones that remain are exceptionally well preserved. The discovery even includes impressions of wing feathers. Today, this fossil can be seen on display at the Teyler’s Museum in Haarlem, Netherlands. It is identified as specimen numbers TM 6926 and 6928. Ostromia crassipes was uncovered in the Painten formation located in Germany.
