Osiris is Egypt's revered god of eternal life, the underworld's dark realm, and renewal. Typically, he was portrayed as a deity with green skin, a pharaoh-like beard, partially wrapped in mummy wrappings at the legs, wearing an iconic atef crown, and holding powerful symbols of a crook and flail. He was one of the earliest to be associated with the ancient mummy wrapping tradition, as his sister and wife Isis carefully enveloped his body after his brother Set brutally killed him and mutilated his lifeless form into separate pieces. Osiris was often considered the eldest son of Geb, the earth god, and Nut, the celestial goddess, as well as being Isis's loving brother and devoted husband. Horus, their beloved son, was seen as a posthumous offspring born after Osiris's untimely demise.
