Osiris is the Egyptian deity in charge of guiding souls through the afterlife, ruling over the underworld, and orchestrating rebirth. He's classically portrayed as a green-skinned god sporting a pharaoh's regal beard, with his lower legs partially wrapped in mummy cloth, wearing an iconic atef crown, and grasping a symbolic crook and flail. Osiris was one of the earliest deities to be associated with the ancient Egyptian practice of wrapping bodies in linen, as his sister-wife Isis carefully swaddled him after her brother Set brutally killed and dismembered him. As the eldest son of Geb, the earth god, and Nut, the sky goddess, or alternatively, as the twin brother and husband of Isis, Osiris is also considered the father of Horus, their posthumously born son.
