Oscilloscope for sound card
thingiverse
This is a safety buffer for a laptop-based sound card oscilloscope like Xoscope found at xoscope.sourceforge.net. It gives you protection when using the microphone input for an oscilloscope on your laptop. However, I didn't design the original circuit and am not an electronics expert, so I disclaim any responsibility for the device's safety. I used through-hole components, making it easy to assemble without a microscope even with poor eyesight. The circuit is based on the official Xoscope hardware page at xoscope.sourceforge.net/hardware/hardware.html. Originally designed for desktop computers with 12v+, 0, and - available from the power supply, I modified it to use a voltage converter to provide 12+, 0, and - from a 12v DC power supply like a wall wart. The Bill of Materials is included, but you'll need slide switches for the 1x and 10x circuits, which can be found on eBay in packs with short wire connections to the circuit board. I chose to solder output shielded cables directly to the board instead of using RCA sockets. The enclosure was printed in ABS plastic and secured with two screws. Both "toner transfer" and "photo resist" copper etch files are included for making your own boards. If there's enough interest, I'll get a small batch professionally made and make them available for those who don't want to etch their own.
