Ornate picture frame
thingiverse
I've been collecting old baroque picture frames for a few years now to showcase my photos and distract from their amateurish quality by highlighting the ornaments and shiny details. With my 3D printer in hand, printing these frames myself seemed like a no-brainer, and I even considered adding golden paint later on. So, I started searching for printable models of such frames online but came up empty-handed. It seems that combining an interest in baroque frames with 3D printing is a niche hobby. However, after some digging, I found a few beautiful frame designs that were unfortunately not suitable for printing due to their open surfaces, overhangs, and poor mesh quality. To fix this issue, I repaired the mesh and made some minor changes to the geometry. Despite my efforts, there are still intersecting meshes present, so I recommend using your slicer to resolve overlapping areas (Cura handles this nicely). One major problem remains: I'm unsure if I can share the file without infringing on its original creator's rights since they remain unknown and no license information is provided. As it's a free design available online, I've decided that sharing it won't cause significant harm unless the designer contacts me. I'd like to thank Jan Sinovski for designing and publishing this frame model; please feel free to reach out if you ever read this (it's strange that there's no contact information on archive3d.net). Here's the original file: http://archive3d.net/?a=download&id=5621787b. The picture caption claims I'm the "flatmate of the month"... which is accurate, albeit permanently.
