Emma Ebener is a novelist whose life was dramatically altered by an intense episode of postpartum psychosis which occurred after her daughter's birth, a condition often described as "a mother's madness". Following this episode, she spent five years studying art at Columbia College in Chicago and became particularly fascinated with surrealism and its use of the subconscious.
