This is a significant overhaul of iamburnys Parametric Double Helix Herringbone Z Gears. Upon testing, the gears performed admirably but the Z rod was not securely fastened enough and tended to wobble in the nut trap. To rectify this issue, I moved the nut trap downward and inward into the gear, resulting in the top of the gear being firmly clamped by two nuts, rendering the rod quite rigid. I drew inspiration from Amsterdamman's design at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:465190, but unfortunately, his gears did not mesh as expected due to excessive play. This redesign incorporates iamburnys openscad code (included in the download), ensuring a flawless gear mesh. Print Settings Printer: Ormerod 2 Rafts: No Supports: No Infill: 60% Notes: I employed 3 perimeters and 3 top and bottom layers with 60% infill for enhanced strength and rigidity. For optimal results, print in ABS at 101% scale to account for shrinkage.
