Ormerod 2 Adapter to fit a Nimble V1
thingiverse
An adapter and reworked E3D V6 mount for the Ormerod 2 printer comes next. The adapter holds and centres the Nimble to the hot end, while two parts of the clamp allow for the V6 to be mounted in place. A rework of the clamps is just adding a bolt hole or a little space for a bolt to stick through the nut. The Nimble will overhang at the back, roughly 9 mm, which should be okay and the holes for tie-wraps are still usable. To make printing easier, I put a thin wall between the nut space and the bolt hole. After printing, simply drill it out with a 3 mm drill. Also, the filament hole is covered the same way, this time with a 4 mm hole and a 2 mm hole. The reason for the keyhole shape is so that you can insert a thin rod in the smaller section to push down the collet in the V6 and release the PTFE tube without needing to take it all apart. To get the correct PTFE tubing length, install a tube that is a little bit too long, mount the V6 and the adapter. Then slice the PTFE tube off, flush with the top of the adapter. Mount the Nimble next. There will be almost no space between the tube and the base of the Nimble. The Zesty Nimble Extruder weighs less than 27 grams on your carriage/effector, making it the smallest and lightest extruder you can buy, it has ample torque and can be mounted in multiple orientations. The Nimble is available from Zesty Technology.
