Ormerod 2, 2nd fan mount/deflector

I finally got around to upgrading my hot end with the new version, and ever since then I've been browsing Thingiverse in search of a design for an extra cooling fan for my printer. Unsuccessful in my hunt for the perfect design, I decided to take matters into my own hands and create one on my own. The result isn't flawless but works for me, so I'm letting it be for now. Perhaps someone out there with more skills and motivation than myself will come across this and give it a makeover. Assuming things go well, a bit of cooling should enable the print to proceed without the need for supports - at least that was my theory, as mine printed out perfectly on the first try. As the final touches were put into place, I chose to attach a screw and secure it in place using a threaded design; while it's not the most elegant solution, it seems to do the trick for me. I had to spend some time filing down my acrylic part so that the screws would fit perfectly - an added challenge due to the piece being quite close to my hot end. As an additional measure to keep things cool, I applied a piece of aluminum tape facing towards the heat source in hopes that it might dissipate some excess heat. I made the choice to include a small jumper which can be used to disable the fan during prints in ABS material; time will tell if this solution holds up once the temperatures reach a point where I'm forced to print in this mode again - which, being mostly an ABS user myself isn't often but definitely a possible need at times. Printer Settings: - Brand: RepRap - Printer: Ormerod 2 - Rafts: Doesn't matter - Supports: No - Resolution: .2mm - Infill: 100% - Notes: I chose to print without rafts or supports; no fuss and all smiles.
