CRITICAL UPDATE 02/17/2019: ADDED Prusa-L2A-Spool-RH.STL and Prusa-L2A-Spool-LH.stl. Found extruder interference at maximum Z height due to firmware changes in version 3.5.1 causing crashes and re-calibration if the extruder is near the top when starting a print. Cutting the bottom clamping lip thinner resolves this issue, or you can grind 2mm, .08", off the lower front facing lip of the clamping part as an alternative solution. UPDATE 02/07/18: ADDED V2 of both parts, changing the frame grabbing outline to make it easier to clamp on the frame. However, I have not yet tested this version. The stock filament spool holder that came with my Prusa i3 MK3 was a bit too bouncy for my taste, so I designed one using two legs and 1/2" Sch. 40 PVC pipe. I printed these spools using Polymaker PETg, which is all I have besides PLA, at 240C/80C with 15% infill, .30 layers, and no support needed. Each print took about 1.5 hours. You can cut the PVC pipe to any length you prefer, between 4 through 6 inches (102-152mm) or up to 10 inches (250mm). If you choose the longer PVC pipe, you can hang multiple rolls for convenient multi-color prints. This spool holder is tighter than the original, so use your thumbs to evenly push the bottom snap bump on and off the frame. Apply even pressure and make sure to clean out any channels with blemishes. The slots should be at least 6.3mm in size.
