Original Prusa Enclosure - Power Supply Plate Support
prusaprinters
Optional Support Plate to renforce the rigidity of the Power Supply Plate.I was concerned that overtime, the stock method of mounting the powersupply would weaken. In most of the enclosed printers I use, PETG gives out over time. I was thinking the PETG pegs used to secure the plate to the frame would fail with added heat (the stock PETG pegs I have thread directly into them). The current version uses heatset inserts that match up with the holes on the frame, a later version will be available after testing that uses M3 Hex nuts (currently testing for printability). If your powersupply doesn't use the two threaded holes in the rectangular punch out, you can use those to affix your support to the plate for easier installation. Put 4 m3 heatsets into the oval tabs, then screw into from outside the frame (m3x4 included were plenty)Additionally I was able to connect the plate with the back piece of acrylic installed. It wasn't any harder than the stock plate (the handles go in the square holes in the same place of the original). There is an added benefit as well, you can use the additional through holes to compensate for weakend threads with a heat set insert(see pictures, I accidently overtightened - it didn't take a lot - and ruined a thread) ~ ~ ~ No supports needed, the handle holes use a sacrifical bridge in place of support ~ ~ ~
