We recently acquired a vintage Fisher Price record player from eBay, which our son adores due to his fascination with mechanical contraptions and music boxes. Given its age, approximately 50 years old, the gears had become corroded, necessitating disassembly and thorough cleaning. While reassembling the device, the antique turntable catastrophically shattered into numerous small pieces upon insertion of a screw, despite applying minimal force. Rather than attempting to salvage the fragments by gluing them together and hoping for stability, I designed an entirely new turntable, which has withstood rigorous daily use over several months without any issues.
