Origami Press - Yoshizawa Butterfly

Origami Press - Yoshizawa Butterfly

thingiverse

This 3D printed Origami Press is designed to pre-crease 75mm origami paper, making it easier to fold a simple yet elegant butterfly model created by Akira Yoshizawa. Even with basic origami models, folding through multiple layers of paper can be challenging and sometimes the crease pattern's mountains and valleys alternate in such a way that they must first be folded in the wrong direction. Our press allows for pre-creasing the folds so they can be folded individually in the correct direction. In particular, one of the final folds of this butterfly model pulls the paper together past its natural fold line, creating the organic, curvy shape of the finished model. This press enables folders to make this crucial fold cleanly and produces a more reliable butterfly model.
