Organic Shapes - The Giving Tree

Submitted for the #POLYMAKERCHALLENGE This 3D model in Autodesk Maya serves as a poignant reminder that nature's generosity continues unabated, which necessitates our responsible stewardship of the environment. Initially designed as a functional candy holder for the office, this work of art has evolved into a powerful statement about humanity's place within the natural world. The branches burst forth from the ground, unfolding to form human hands that grasp towards the sky. As leaves sprout from these hands, we are reminded that humans are an integral part of the ecosystem, inextricably linked to nature's rhythms and cycles. The outstretched hands convey a sense of insatiable desire, yet also highlight our capacity for generosity. The bowl held by these hands serves as a vessel for whatever nourishment or sustenance we seek, whether it be candy or something more profound. Notably, the overall shape of this model takes on a feminine form, paying homage to the nurturing spirit of "mother" nature. A striking aspect of this design is its potential for sustainability – when printed with PLA, this model becomes fully compostable, underscoring the need for eco-friendly practices in our daily lives.
