An Organic Dome Experiment Unfolds: A Unique Shape Born from CNC'd Plywood I embarked on a daring adventure, testing concepts that could bring an organically shaped dome to life using CNC'd plywood. Lacking access to a CNC machine, I turned to my trusty 3D printer as the perfect prototyping tool. Initially, the framework held together without any adhesive, showcasing its structural integrity. Next, I applied rice paper to each triangle and secured them in place with hot glue, effectively transforming the framework into a sturdy structure. The dome is on the verge of becoming an electrifying light sculpture. By covering each triangle with translucent rice paper, I will illuminate it from within using programmable LEDs. The next phase is already underway! 1/21/2016: Rice Paper Envelopes the Triangles I successfully covered the triangles with rice paper, laying the groundwork for a dazzling light installation. Tomorrow, programmable RGB LEDs will be added to bring this vision to life. 1/22/2016: Completing the Light Sculpture The dome is now a radiant light sculpture, radiating an otherworldly glow. The final touches are complete!
