Oregon Beavers coaster
thingiverse
Three-color Oregon Beavers logo coaster proudly made with ABS material, utilizing a precise .3mm layer height to create a total of 17 distinct layers. Layer 1 through 9 was printed in pristine white, but then it was time to mix things up - layers 10 and 11 received a sleek black treatment. Not content to rest on its laurels, the final flourish was saved for the vibrant orange hues applied across layers 12 through 17. Printing this beauty proved to be a challenge due to having single extruder printers at my disposal. I had to get creative, employing a strategic lifting and pausing technique that involves holding steady for a full 30 seconds between color changes. The big drawback here is the reaction from friends - they can't stop raving about this coaster! Take it from me: getting feedback like this is both wonderful and intimidating all at once. A solution would be a state-of-the-art, two-head machine capable of handling multiple filament colors seamlessly without manual intervention. In the absence of that technology, an improved filament splicer could serve as a workable alternative, allowing for precision cutting and joining without any pesky interruptions mid-printing process.
