Ordnance Survey Triangulation Pillar (Trig Point) 1/10 scale
thingiverse
This is a model (1/10 scale) of a standard British Ordnance Survey Triangulation Pillar or Trig Point as they are more commonly known in Britain. These pillars were constructed and used for accurately mapping Great Britain during the 1930s and 1950s. Over 6500 were built at levels ranging from -1m below sea level to the highest point of Britain, Ben Nevis in Scotland. Many followed the standard concrete pillar design by Brigadier Martin Hottine, although cylinder and stone block Trig Points were also used in some areas. The Trig Point model I have designed follows the standard Hottine design closely. The trig point can be printed separately or by printing the base, you can create a fully functional model as the base doubles as a keepsake box if you do not glue the trig point in place. I have uploaded several flush brackets too, along with a generic blank one which just has an 'S' for the Trig Point number to help identify it.
