Order & Chaos
thingiverse
Using ZBrush's Move tool, I transformed four identical rings into a design featuring stars formed by intersecting rings in multiple directions. Despite the chaotic appearance, this design demonstrates order when viewed from the correct angle. To print it, MakerWare 2.4 was used with customized profile settings, a MakerBot Replicator2, white MakerBot PLA, and specifications including 10% infill, 0.200 layer height, one shell, 90 feedrate, 150 travel feed, and 230 temperature. A raft with full support was applied, taking less than four hours for printing at a 68mm height, with minimal time required to remove the support structure. The profile was created from MakerBot PLA Standard and modified by changing these two lines: "doSupport": true, and "supportAngle": 45.0, thus offering enhanced support for overhangs compared to default settings.
