Orca 0.43 X-Plate mod (get rid of the front bar)
thingiverse
This text describes an attempt to clear the Orca 0.43's front for a 40mm fan mount. The update on November 25th, 2013, includes new STL files with lip additions so that M8 nuts and threaded bars pull correctly. Dimensions have also been tweaked for better fitment. Measurements are based on the original x-plate. Instructions include drilling holes of specific sizes, replacing the old x-plate, attaching smooth rod clamps and x-belt bearings to new plates, threading rods through from one side to another with necessary nuts/washers, making short lengths of threaded bar, refitting z-axis smooth rods, x-axis smooth rods (and stops/opto), x motor, and z-opto. Tension the x-axis belt and adjust rear threaded rod to prevent belt wandering. Note that this is a work in progress.
