Orca 0.43 X-axis HGR15 and HGH15CA linear carriage and raceway upgrade

thingiverse

This Orca 0.43 x-axis upgrade involves installing a raceway, preferably 360mm long, for a rigid and straight structure that prevents bowing due to tension between rails. Sourcing options include Marchant Dice in the UK, who can cut the raceway to size upon request. The raceway frees up space for a fan on the front of the carriage while still using the original top aluminum plate. However, it renders the original extruder mounting bolts unusable, so M4 threaded rod and penny washers must be used instead. To perform this upgrade, remove extruder, belt holder, and one rear bearing holder from the carriage, drill four new holes for HGH15CA carriage, attach carriage to x-axis plate using M4x8mm CSK SKT bolts, fit carriage to rail with nylock nut and normal nut, mount brackets onto frame with M4x20mm and M4x25mm bolts, use new belt clamp for tightening belt, assemble extruder with M4 threaded bar, penny washers, and nylocks, and optionally fix x-axis opto using M4 threaded rod and nuts.
