Planetary gear extruder like orbiter made to use original BMG duel gears. ※ BOM CHANGED FROM v1.0 You need : BMG duel gear (with shaft and bearing inside) M3 BHCS 17.5mm x2 (Just cut 2.5mm from 20mm) M3 SHCS 20mm x1 M2 bolt or shaft 6.5mm x3 (need cutting) 4mm fitting x1 (I used mellow fitting) Stiff spring for tensioner M7 filament guide (You could buy of make yourself if you want) MR85 bearing (id 5mm od 8mm width 2.5mm) x4 6700zz bearing (id 10mm od 15mm width 4mm) x1 M3 L5 brass insert x3 Center reinforced plastic shaft was not strong enough and dimensionally unstable so now you should cut BMG shaft to size and press fit it to printed part. Steps to make 0. Choose housing version Shortened version 26mm(symmetric) or original version (37mm, non symmetric) Both parts are now different from original orbiter v2.0 because I tilted motor mount hole 90 degree 3mm increased to z. 1.2mm increased to y 1. Print following parts with heat resistant plastic (at least 100ºC, Use 0.4 nozzle). Housing Latch Tensioner Knob Planetary Carriage ABS is enough but you could undergo severe shrinkage and layer delamination. 1-1. Print gear parts with heat and friction resistant material (nylon or pom) [NOT recommended] Gear Cover Planetary Gear 2. Remove gear from BMG shaft (5mm) Hit really hard or break original plastic gear. Or just gently press with pliers. 3. Cut or grind BMG shaft to 25.2mm Length is not crucial. Final length should be 25.2mm~25.8mm 4. Press fit BMG shaft to printed Planetary Carriage part Use CA glue to firmly bond metal to plasic. Use embossing patterns on shaft used to fix original gears. 5. Fuse Brass Threaded Inserts to Housing Use soldering iron 6. Press bearings to Housing You pobably need to hit or press them hard. 7. Assemble latch Use 17.5mm screw and loosly fix one of duel gears which has bearing inside to printed latch part. 8. Press fit fitting into housing Be careful not to split housing half. Layer adhesion could be weak if you use ABS. 9. Loosly fix duel gear to Planetary Shaft and assemble it to housing Fine adjust gears to center the filament. 10. Assemble latch to housing using 17.5mm screw Do not tighten it too hard. It should rotate smoothly. 11. Screw filament guide in housing Use big - screw driver 12. Glue tensioner knob to 20mm bolt and screw it to housing Use CA glue.
