Orbiter 1.5 direct-drive extruder mount for Prusa Mini
thingiverse
I wanted to add a direct-drive extruder to my Prusa Mini... so I did. The Orbiter works very well in this role, but it cannot print TPU in its current iteration. Still, it's a great upgrade to the Prusa Mini, and pretty easy to install. The mount replaces Prusa's existing fan spacer, adding a platform to the top of it to put the orbiter on. To mount, you need: 2 M3x10mm flat-head screws - to mount the orbiter to the mount 2 M3 nuts - to mount the orbiter to the mount 1 M3x10mm screw - to hold the mount onto the mini's heatsink 56mm of 4mm PTFE or Capricorn tubing - the length needs to be adjusted pretty exactly. I also used crimpers and made up a locking 4-pin plug for the orbiter, and zip ties to hold the wires together. In my Mini's start gcode, I've added: M92 E655 ; set E steps per mm for the Orbiter extruder M906 E300 ; set the extruder to 300ma for the Orbiter extruder. 350 is the default, can bump up as needed. M900 K0.03 ; set the linear advance for the Orbiter I made a video of the install here: https://youtu.be/f6VlFAkn_5I
