Orbital Scramble Fighter
thingiverse
I'm passionate about space ships just like my kids, so I design toys that are not only quick prints but also of high quality. My latest creation is the orbital scramble jet, a space ship designed to launch from orbit or from a planet's surface for tactical strikes. Growing up, I was fascinated by the USA TV series Baa Baa Black Sheep, and my love for space fighters has endured. This particular model draws inspiration from the F4U-1 Corsair wing design of World War 2, but with an inverted twist. The craft boasts two supercharged jet engines and a high-powered ion drive at its rear, capable of propelling it through space. It also features two front-mounted laser blasters for close combat and two ship-to-ground or ship-to-ship missiles for long-range engagements. Kids love the intricate details that make these toys come alive. To get a better look at the intricately designed front grill portion, try increasing the model's size in your 3D printing software. However, keep in mind that the original STL file was designed with a balance between detail and printability in mind. Printing it smaller will result in a sturdy model but may compromise on the jet engine intakes and other fine details. While making it larger will improve these features, it's not worth the extra time and material required. I designed this model to be printed quickly and efficiently, using my CR 10 printer with a .2mm nozzle and .15mm layer height. It takes around 30 minutes to print at this setting, resulting in a high-quality model that's perfect for kids. I've included sample pictures of my CR-10 printing the orbital scramble jet with silver Hatchbox PLA. My kids are already begging me to create a whole squadron, so I hope you enjoy building and flying your own models!
