Orbit

Orbit envisions a dynamic space where interchangeable furniture units can seamlessly be added or removed from circulation. The modular area is comprised of a central room, three turntables, and an interconnected outer ring that harmoniously integrate to transfer items from storage compartments into the living zone. As the outer ring rotates new components into position, they are simultaneously conveyed onto the turntables, which in turn displace the previous modules out of view, making way for fresh additions. The adaptable furniture can further optimize wall storage and space utilization by incorporating flexible or expandable units. This innovative environment is ideally suited for densely populated urban areas or isolated extraterrestrial habitats where resources are scarce. Conceived with Theresa Bracht and Yiwen Sun for the Confined Space project of DEA 6210 Architectural Robotics at Cornell University, this revolutionary design seeks to redefine spatial functionality in the face of limited space and supply constraints.
