Optimum BF-20 Z-Cover
thingiverse
As my trusty Z-cover began to show signs of wear, I took it upon myself to design a new one that would rival those found on professional machines. I decided to go for a segment-style cover, just like the ones you'd find on high-end equipment. To bring this vision to life, I headed straight to my Zortrax M200 3D printer and got to work. I selected a material called Z-Ultrat, which is essentially an ABS derivative that offers excellent print quality. For this project, I opted for a 30% infill rate, along with top and bottom layers of 5 millimeters each. The finishing touch came in the form of Lamelle 5 (segment 5), which I carefully attached to the lower sheet metal from my old cover using flat magnets. The result is a seamless integration that's both functional and visually appealing.
