A student at the University Paderborn in Germany is studying mechanical engineering and has designed a topology optimized handle stem for racing cycles and other bikes. It meets standard measurements while being lighter than most available stems, which is crucial in this sport. The design can withstand 2300N forces at -45° angle as per DIN EN ISO 4210-5 Standard, weighing only 152g (0.3351 lbs). This impressive strength has been verified through FEA Simulations and the stem is printed using ABS-M30 material.
