Optics Bench Object
thingiverse
We acquired several new optics benches for our lab, complete with lamps that required a specific object to create images through the lenses. The light source features a 50mm holder, while the lens holders are also designed for 50mm compatibility, prompting me to fabricate a simple disk measuring 50mm in diameter and sporting an unconventional asymmetric cross pattern that can be positioned in front of the light source and serve as the object. The arrow is precisely 12mm tall, making it straightforward to determine magnification by measuring the image size in millimeters and dividing that measurement by 12. The unique design of the cross pattern also facilitates the identification of whether an image is oriented upright or inverted.
