This is an Optical Transmitter with a box that houses the circuit boards. The holes within it serve as mounting points for metal LED holders, which can be sourced from Radio Shack or DigiKey, specifically designed to accommodate 5mm LEDs. I am utilizing SFH4550 IR LEDs featuring a 6 degree beam width. Two parallel blocks of six LEDs in series are being employed. At a distance of one meter, the resulting beam pattern measures 13cm by 11cm. The holes located on the rear of the box are allocated as follows: from left to right, they serve as connectors for a microphone headset, a mic gain control, and a 12v power source.
