Optical Spinner

Optical Spinner

thingiverse

This is a fidget spinner, of course, featuring a unique design centered around two standard 608z skateboard bearings or similar (22 mm x 7 mm) stacked back to back. The idea was inspired by an old pencil drawing that typically keeps me occupied when I sit and doodle; it's a habit that has been with me for many years. I likely picked up the shape from an old math class eons ago. I hope you enjoy this design, and please let me know if I messed anything up - my eyes are killing me after staring at it for so long! Version 1 has more faces than version 2; also in version one, the bearings sit outside the frame intentionally. Version 4 adds some extra bearings for weight and longer spinning time - same size as the others, 7mm x 22mm. If you print this standing up, it yields good results with a raft and supports. You might have to clean inside the bearing housing a bit or scale it up to 101% depending on your printer. It's a bit delicate when it's done, so use caution when installing bearings. Print Settings Printer: Qidi X-One Rafts: Doesn't Matter Supports: Yes Resolution: .2 or lower Infill: 30% to 50%, the more the better Notes: Printed in PLA and PETG at 50mm a second with supports for the steps on the bed as it begins.
