Optical Endstop - Shapeoko 2
thingiverse
I decided to install optical limit switches on my Shapeoko 2 to prevent accidents, as I couldn't find a pre-existing solution, so here's one! Dimensions are tailored to fit the rails of the machine but can be adapted to others or modified since FreeCAD files are easily shared. The mount fits the end stop shown with two M3 holes spaced 28mm apart. The arrow points towards a hole that can be used for mounting into the rail, while the other hole has a nut recess to secure the part in place. The light-blocking portion mounts to the plate of the runner. The picture shows pink filament, but it would probably be better to use black to make the sensor more reliable; PLA is also an acceptable option, and PETG isn't necessary.
