Optical Encoder

An optical encoder, also known as a rotary encoder, is an electro-mechanical gadget that translates the angular position or motion of a shaft into either analog or digital form. Absolute and incremental (relative) are its two primary types. The output of absolute encoders denotes the current shaft position, making them angle transducers. Incremental encoders, on the other hand, offer data regarding the shaft's movement, which is subsequently processed elsewhere into information like speed, distance, and location.
