OPPAS: OPen-source PArametric Snake-robot
grabcad
OPPAS is a robotic snake designed for research purposes, created by a student at Ritsumeikan University's Biomimetic Intelligent Mechatronics Laboratory. The main goal of this project was to develop an easily customizable robot that could be quickly assembled and deployed without major adjustments when components are changed. OPPAS is open-source, designed using Autodesk Fusion 360, and the files can be downloaded for recreation on any computer. The design is parametric, allowing users to create different snake robots according to their specific requirements. Modularity is another key feature, enabling users to easily swap out components without redesigning other parts. OPPAS was printed using ABS on a Zortrax M200, with each module costing under US$20. The project is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).
