openz diy 1/28 tires and rims
thingiverse
This is a tire system designed specifically for Openz based on v16 models, but may also work on other versions. Note that printing two molds is required, and modifications to the body may need to be made in order to accommodate competition tires. Additionally, note that achieving full range of motion in steering will necessitate modification of the tie rod. To create these custom tires, mix cornstarch and 100% silicone #1 until a consistency similar to play-dough is achieved, and it no longer sticks to your fingers. Pour the mixture generously into the mold halves, making sure some extra mixture tops each mold for optimal bonding between the two. Next, squeeze the mold halves together and allow them to sit for approximately half an hour. Once set, carefully separate the molds using a small flathead screwdriver and a small Allan wrench or rounded toothpick to push through the burp holes, taking care not to over penetrate. After removal, clean the part thoroughly with a hobby knife or sandpaper. Small imperfections can be touched up with the same mixture or pure silicone.
